[Video + Tracks] Mountain Man

Having grown up on the border of Vermont and New Hampshire, I’ve felt a certain affinity to Mountain Man since first hearing them last October. The three ladies of Mountain Man are from Bennington in southern Vermont, but more important than their place of origin, I’ve taken to their brand of folk music. Their music relies solely on the strength of their vocals, with minimal instrumentation. There’s an ethereal, chamber-like feel to their music, intended or no. Their song arrangement allows for a lot of negative space and this presence of silence only adds to the power of their voices. It’s a really interesting sound. I’m interested to hear where the recorded their first cuts, as well as what’s to come next.

Mountain Man is currently touring northern California and the Pacific Northwest and while in the Bay Area, they stopped by to perform for everyone’s favorite videographers over at Yours Truly. Two more videos after the jump.
