G5: January 31, Monday

As always, or sometimes, your occasional EP of links…
- I stumbled across this great set of photos of musicians with their parents from Life Magazine. Above: Elton John with his folks.
- Esquire’s Chris Jones discusses receiving a care package from a friend at a small label and his relationship to music as physical object. I particularly liked this line:
”Someone could email me a thousand MP3s—they could rip off the world’s music and deliver it into my ears through some mysterious implanted chip—and it wouldn’t have nearly the effect that opening that box did. That box and its contents took care.” - If so inclined, you can give Bright Eyes’ new record, The People’s Key, a listen over at NPR.
- Quiet Color did a nice job on their video with Wildbirds and Peacedrums.
- Adele’s cover of Cheryl Cole’s “Promise This” was on repeat this weekend. Very excited to hear more of 21, out in a couple of weeks.
