Uproot Andy’s remix of Los Rakas’ “Abrazame” has been a constant presence in the CotP Southern HQ for about three months now. Just as time was working them out of heavy rotation, they put out a great video, shot with the duo and featured artist Faviola around their hometown of San Francisco. The original beat is from Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh,” but in listening to the tracks back-to-back, it’s easy to recognize how much one’s voice and tone can change the presence of a backing beat.
Los Rakas have a bunch of free music over at their BandCamp page. The duo, originally from Panama, blend the sounds of Carribean, Latin American (yes, the two are different) and North American urban music to splendid results.
