[Tracks] Broken Bells - The High Road
Just in case this snow day couldn’t get any better, Broken Bells are offering the first track off their upcoming album. Broken Bells is the exciting new collaboration between DJ extraordinaire, Danger Mouse and Shins front man, James Mercer. Of all the albums slated for release in 2010, this one has the most potential to be absolutely mind-blowing. Grab “The High Road” over at...

[Tracks] Moonface - Dreamland EP
We got an introduction to Spencer Krug’s latest project, Moonface, a while back when the Sunset Rubdown gang was trying to fill time before Dragonslayer dropped. The two song EP sounded like classic Krug, but less busy then Sunset Rubdown and definitely a lot less noisy than Wolf Parade. Just Krug in full story teller mode over a simple instrumental. In short, it was fantastic. Now Krug is...

[Video] Raekwon on Jimmy Fallon
I think Jimmy Fallon is a turd, but this performance alone makes the whole thing worthwhile (and vindicates the Roots decision to join-up). Everybody kills it on this thing.

[Tracks] To say I've been blowing it...
…on the blogging front would be an understatement. I wont bore you with the reasons, but I’m back now and will attempt to return to a (somewhat) regular posting schedule. As the year and decade come to a close, we’ll have lots of good coverage of our some of our favorite stuff. But forget favorites for now. The song I’ve listened to MOST this year, 2009, more than...

[Tracks] The Rural Alberta Advantage - Don't Haunt...
The Rural Alberta Advantage have cropped up on a few end of the year lists. I guess technically Hometowns was released in 2008, but Saddle Creek was smart enough to pick them up and re-release it this year. I didn’t take notice for either release, but thought I’d go back on the recommendation of so many other people. “Don’t Haunt This Place” is a clear standout and a...

[Tracks] Said the Gramophone - Top 75 Songs of...
Half the fun of writing a blog is being able to keep up with all the other great blogs out there. One of my favorite discoveries of 2009 is Said the Gramophone, a Montreal based blog that pairs fun, surreal, creative writing with some of the best songs around. Do yourself a huge favor and check out their Top 75 songs of 2009. If you read this blog with any regularity a lot of them should look (and...

[Tracks] Cold War Kids - Audience of One
After falling hard for Robbers and Cowards, I was pretty disappointed by the Cold War Kids follow up, Loyalty to Loyalty. The idiosyncratic stylings that caught my attention on their debut seemed contrived and clunky the second time around. In an effort to recapture their original magic, the band is stripping things down a bit for a new EP. First single, “Audience of One” is a...
