[Links] CC, 11/18, Part 2
Sorry for the lack of content these days, folks. I can’t speak for the Dijon Mustard fellow who also posts here, but I’ve been swamped with other work and the start of basketball season. I’ve got a lot of music ready to be posted that I’ll hopefully make time for over the next few days. Thanks for coming by! The new Clipse has been my latest jam. Here’s the video...

[Tracks] Ola Podrida - Donkey
It has been awhile since I’ve really been blown away by a track after one listen. Well, thanks to Sean over at Said the Gramophone, I can happily reset my “days since” counter. Ola Podrida is the work of David Wingo, who apparently is better known for his work on movies than in music (I know this because a Google search for David Wingo returns his IMDB before his myspace)....

[Tracks] Covers and Remixes
Due to the nature of my work, I’ve been afforded the opportunity to work from home over the last month or so. I’ve still be going to the office a lot anyways, but today I was at home. After a hyper-productive morning, I scanned my RSS reader over lunch and came across two fantastic new covers/remixes/versions of two of Brooklyn’s most popular bands - Yeasayer and Dirty...

[Tracks] Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon
I’m a big fan of the Kevin Bacon game, particularly on long car rides. Here goes nothing… Wolf Gang to Britney Spears in six steps/tracks. Wolf Gang’s “Pieces of You” was remixed by Baby Monster, who also remixed Ellie Goulding’s “Under the Sheets” which was also remixed by She Is Danger and The Knocks, the latter of which also remixed Britney...

Before we begin, let me pass on a warm thanks to all of our Veterans and current service (wo)men out there. We appreciate all you’ve done and continue to do for our great country. Vice’s VBS TV stops by RJD2’s house in Philadelphia to make a cobbler and check out his studio set up To the links: -OkayPlayer has a good, quick interview with Wale -MOKB interviewed Alela Diane and...

[Concert + Tracks] CMJCMJCMJCMJCMJ
My buddy Mike is working in the music industry for Sonicbids. As such, he gets hooked up with all kinds of free shwag, including a badge to this year’s CMJ Music Marathon, or whatever they’re calling it now; he was gracious enough to write up a fantastic recap for us (and Sonicbids). Mike’s an all around mensch who knows the ins and outs of the business and has been putting me...

[Video + Tracks] Thao - Know Better Learn Faster
The good folks over at Yours Truly put together a great video of Thao (of with The Get Down Stay Down fame) performed for a small group in Lexington, KY. “Know Better Learn Faster” has been a cog in my musical rotation over the last month. Thao’s voice is both subtle and impassioned at various points. Musically, the track shows lots of different influences; when coupled with...

[Video] Grizzly Bear - Ready, Able
After binging on Grizzly Bear this spring, its been sometime since I have picked up Vecaktimest. However, their latest video for “Ready, Able” might be just the temptation I need to get back on the wagon. The Allison Schulnik production continues GB’s long history of bizarrely animated clay people.

[Tracks] Small Black - Kings of Animals
Small Black has already produced one of my favorite songs of the fall in “Despicable Dogs”. On 11/23 they will continue their successful fall with the release of that single backed with new song, “Kings of Animals” and adorned with quite possibly the greatest album cover ever (above). Grab the hazy, but poignant b-side below and admire that cover for just a bit...

[Tracks] El Perro Del Mar - Change of Heart
El Perro Del Mar - which of course is Spanish for The Perro Del Mar - is the solo project of Swedish songstress Sarah Assbring. I haven’t had much time to get into her latest release, Love Is Not Pop, but the song “Change of Heart” immediately jumped out to me. Like fellow Gothenburg natives, Air France, El Perro has a knack for making wistfully beautiful songs that sort of lull...
